Mom and I took a trip on Monday to Charlotte to see Aunt Mamie (who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimers) and MawMaw. We left around 8:15 or so from Moms house. Around 9 am or so we got a call from MawMaw asking where we were. We told her and she responded telling us that Aunt Mamie had gotten up that morning at 6:30 (she slept for two days straight prior to us coming), got a bath, got dressed, and was sitting by the window watching for us to get there. I thought my heart was going to bust! I could just see here sitting there by the window waiting patiently for us. Of course I told Mom she needed to drive faster, but who was I kidding! =) We finally got there, I won't even mention the trip to Bilo to get her some flowers, and Aunt Mamie was standing at the door to greet us. This made us feel much better! We proceeded inside to chat and catch up.
MawMaw and I left Mom and Aunt Mamie at the house to entertain each other while we went on a lunch run. MawMaw took me by the airport to see the Rousch (sp?) Racing plane and I pretended to know who they were and why they were important! HA! We drove around the airport and got lost and had a blast. We got back to the house and everybody ate lunch...I can still taste that Almond Cream Cheese Pound Cake.
Then, Jennifer came over and told us she had a friend that works at the Wilson Air Center FBO in Charlotte and that she could take us for a tour of the facility. I was stoked!! Jennifer, Mom, and I went to the airport for our tour and had an absolute blast! I wish I would have had a video camera on Mom. It was so cute! I could talk about this experience for hours so I won't bore you. What it comes down to is that I talked April's head off and we grilled each other about our Aviation knowledge. It was great!
Then it was time for Mom and I to come home. We were stuck in Charlotte traffic so we were chatting and entertaining each other. We talked about the little things that Aunt Mamie had said throughout the day that made us laugh and about my awesome phone call with Elaine. Overall it was a very entertaining ride home full of laughter and giggles.
I came home that evening to dinner waiting for me. Grilled tenderloin that could melt in your mouth, mashed potatoes, and green beans. My honey did good!! We enjoyed dinner, took a romantic bubble bath, and headed to bed.
Overall, the day couldn't have been any better.
Now, it's back to the work grind and getting things done. I guess that's life! =)
